Email submit doesn't work if template is attached

Not sure if this is the right forum... if not, sorry!! I am creating an extensive form that is uploaded on my organization's sharepoint site. The idea of it is that a link to the library is sent to someone outside of our organization to fill out the form, and then click the Email Submit button at the bottom of the form. The button has been programmed to send to someone else at the org and he receives the email and form data just fine. But here is the problem: as you would expect, the form will not open for him without the template. But within the Data Connection for the email submit on the form, if I check the box to include the template within the email, the email never sends at all when the user clicks the Submit Email button on the form on the Sharepoint Library. Can anyone help me out with what might be happening here? By any chance, does emailing -with attachments- need to be enabled on the Sharepoint server? Thank you very much for any help.

    Hi AndrewC,

Mel Balsamo details the approach to do what you want to do. There is a trick involved - you have to have two templates, but it will work just fine.

Read her blog post from May 2009 here: http://www.infopathdev.com/blogs/mel_balsamo/archive/2009/05/19/using-e-mail-forms-to-communicate-with-external-users.aspx

    Best of luck,

    P
