i have info path survey form which i am sending to my clint by attching it to mail.

but i want survey form to be contain request number for which i am doing survey . how can set externaly any value inside form. ther is one fild request number inside form.

i found that it can be done if i rename the .xsn file by request number and by reading file name i can set request number inside form .

if i am reading file name by mso-infoPathSolution it will gives me .xsn file name but if i rename the same file and check the value given by

processing-instruction()[local-name() = "mso-infoPathSolution"]  then it old file name it will not give new file name .

    Hi Sameer,

I would use default data and not rely on the processing instruction. The PI is just going to return the value cached for the solution. Sending them an XML file with the number in it is probably the way to go. Then they just double click and they have the number in the form.
