Creating a list in share point from an IP Filler form

I hope I explain this properly and thouroughly enough that someone can assist or tell me that it can't be done.

I have created an IP 2010 Filler form.  The main view is a checklist.  Subsequent views are reports reflecting the deficiencies generated from the data from the checklist. The deficiencies are displayed in a Rich Text control that uses concat of 2 controls from the checklist.

What we're trying to do is submit the entire form to a SP Library (done) and automatically create a seperate list in SP 2010 to track the deficiencies listed in the reports.  These deficiencies need to be listed in seperate lists based on areas (i.e. fencing, buildings etc).  The new list should display name, date, deficiency.  If there is no deficiency listed in the report, we don't want a blank space on the new list.

End state is to look at the new list "Fencing" area, for example, (list or webpart) and see all the names of anyone that had a fencing deficiency to look for commonalities, trends etc based from the forms submitted.

I'm not that well versed in writing code but can do some basic concatenating, formulas etc.   Any assistance or direction you can point me would be greatly appreciated.  I've become blurry eyed reading a lot of the posts on this forum as well as blogs on Google and haven't found anything exactly like my situation but think it can be done.

Okay - so, the short answer is "yes" - you can submit data from an InfoPath form to one or more SharePoint Lists. It is not a built in feature, however, and it will require code or qRules. We use qRules because it is easier than writing custom code for every form & cheaper to maintain. If you are committed to separate lists, you could do that, use an XPath filter to choose what rows to submit to what list. It seems like you could use a single list, however, and just group or filter based on deficiency. You can use an XPath filter to not submit blanks - you could also set your default data in the form to not include rows by default in your repeating table so that there are no rows unless the user adds them.

If you are going to go the custom code route, I'd recommend this tutorial.

Thanks.  I'll take a look and let you know how we made out.
