Pull selections from one list into a separate control.

I am trying to automate my departments Active Directory requests using an InfoPath form. I am trying to have our users select what folders and what type of access they need have it submit to my office. I just keep running into one problem at the end.

Right now, I have a form that you can select a person's name ("folder owner") from a drop down list (values pulled from a SharePoint list)Upon selecting a name, InfoPath will filter out the folder names to ones that are assigned to that person and the folder names will appear below in a Multiple-Selection List BoxThen the user can pick one folder and to the right, have a choice if they want Read or Modify access, chosen by 2 radio buttons.

Now if the user presses a button (“Add to List”) a rule is set in place to populate another list to the right based on those two selections. See rule below:

Set fields value to be: string(concat(Column1[Column2 = Folder], " ", Folder, " ", Access, ";"))this will make the string look like this FOLDERNAME ACCESS; which matches one-to-one with active directory.

    ^^This all works great!

My problem, and I'm thinking it's something stupid, is once I press the button it sets the value to the list on the right but if i make another selection it will append the first value, NOT add a new one. How would I be able to accomplish this?

I am using InfoPath 2010 and this will be a form that will be completed via the InfoPath Form Filler. I have tried to search this topic but could not find anything. I am not sure exactly what I'm looking for so if you could answer this or at the very least direct me to another user who has asked a similar question that would be most helpful.

What's the data source look like for your form?

I am guessing the issue is that in IP we can't use rules to insert a new instance in a field in our data source. There are a couple ways to deal with this limitation.

    1. Custom Code - write code to insert a new instance of the target field and set the value
    2. qRules - use rules to insert a new instance of the target field and set the value
    3. Non-code option - you could probably include a bunch of instances of the field in the data default (and don't show them if they are blank) then use this trick to set the first blank one to the value of the the selected field in your left hand control.

    Hope that helps!
