    Repeating Tables and Formulas

    I have a repeating table with a field that has a drop down list with 4 drop down entries. I have a 4 fields outside of the repeating table and each field counts the number of times one of the entries is made in the fields of the repeating table.

    Drop downs list show the following

    F->R

    F->D

    R->D

    F->R

    The field below the table needs to count the number of times that value shows up in the repeating field.  I tried to add a rule with condition of field = F->R and run action with count(field). This did not work.  I am not a code person so I am trying to work with Rules and formulas

    I hope I explained enough.

    Hi there,

    I've attached a sample xsn which hopefully is the behaviour you are looking for.  Basically you need to use a formula as the default value of either a field or a calculated value.  Then use a filter to only count the values you want.  Let me know if you have any questions.

    Re: Repeating Tables and Formulas

    I got it to work based on you example.  Some how I had a value set in the first fx field and it just kept counting the total number of repeating fields.  I copied and pasted the formula into the 2nd, 3rd and 4th fields and changed them to match the different criteria.  They worked right.  I then deleted the 1st field entirely and recreated it from scratch and redid the formula.   This worked the way it should.

    Thank you for your time and help.

    Dan
