    Hi Hilary,

You helped me with this form a few weeks ago. We have been testing this form before putting it into production. For some reason the first name in the Supervisor field is duplicating when the form is opened in a browser when the user tries to fill it out. I am not sure why this would be happening. I placed a check mark in the "Show only entries with unique display names" but that didn't seem to do the trick. I will attach the form to this post. Any suggestions or ideas as to why this would be happening.

    Thank you,

    Kelly

I wonder if it has to do with casing.

You have a rule that sets the Supervisor field.

If there is not a match in the data source for the drop down, you'll see your entry that you set via rules, and the available drop down choices.

You may want to drag the secondary data source you are using for the drop down onto your form. Drag the Supervisor node onto your form too, not as a drop down, so you can see the actual value. Then test it in the browser - that should give you a good idea of what is happening.

Thank you for your response!! When I change the data source to a value of @User_Name and the Display name to @User_Name it fixes the duplicating problem but it breaks the conditional formatting on the SupervisorApprovalSection.

But that wasn't what I suggested. I simply suggested you drag the data source for the drop down onto the form, and the supervisor field onto the form, so you can see what is going wrong.

I'm attaching your form template with those changes. Publish this and open it in the browser - this way you can track down the actually root cause.

I have the form you attached open. I am looking at the fields associated with Supervisor. In my Rule I am telling it to set the fields value to User Name but the value associated to it in the Drop-down list properties is AD ID. They are different values. The difference is the supreme-pa\ which is the domain name in Active Directory. Am I getting close? Thanks again.

So, in the supervisor field, the value is? It includes the domain name?

And in your list from SharePoint, it doesn't? Sorry, I'm trying to understand what you are saying, but am having a bit of trouble. :-)

Basically - your supervisor drop down uses AD_ID from your secondary data connection field for the possible values. Whatever your rules set the supervisor field to needs to be a value in that data source to not have the issue you are experiencing. I hope that makes sense.

In the Supervisor field the value is AD ID but the rule is telling it to change the value to User Name. I attached a screen shot of the list in SharePoint that the values are pulling from.

I'm sorry, I guess I don't understand what the problem is. Can't you just change your rule to set the Supervisor field to the AD_ID? Or better yet, remove the default value for the supervisor field? As it currently stands, that field will get reset every time the existing XML is opened, and always be set to the first instance of the User_Name field from your secondary data source. I'm not sure that is your desired outcome?

Removing the default value from the supervisor field fixed the issue. Thank you again for all of your help. I really appreciate it!!!
