Save to SharePoint list won't submit with button

    Hi,

Well I was finally able to get our form published and it opens in the browser now.

But running into a strange problem,   so in preview mode I can add stuff to my repeating rows hit the command button and it submits everything to the list OK.

When I try it in the browser though,  I fill out the fields and hit the button and nothing happens.   BUT,  if I close the form that's when it saves everything.   It's really strange because if I had hit the button 5 times,  and then close the form,  it will submit the items 5 times.

Any ideas to what I'm doing wrong?

    Hi,

Sorry that you're having trouble. One solution I can think of is to make sure that the button control that is using the qRules command is set to Always send data to the server. To do this, double-click on the control to show its properties, and go to the Browser forms tab, then select Always.

Let us know if that solves it.

    Thanks,

    Jo-Anne

Re: Save to SharePoint list won't submit with button

    Hi,

Thanks, that seems to make it work but I do get an error that I'm not sure what it means.

The form displays this error in the error field when I submit.

Errors occurred submitting to list: Expression must evaluate to a node-set

I also have another question about QRules,  I want to use this on a form that will be used for tracking projects.   Multiple users will be assigned to different part of the project,  so in the form I have a repeating table,  and each row is a channel in the project.    What I want to them to be able to do is each one go in and add the hours/resource to the area they are responsible for.

Right now,  when I go into the form and say I add hours to 1 row in the table, submit and it adds it to the SP list.   I then go back to update the hours I entered earlier, will Qdabra update the field in the SP list,  or will it add another row with the new data?   I want to make sure that duplicates don't get entered into the SP list,  because this list will be used for reporting purposes.

    Thanks!
    Chris

Re: Save to SharePoint list won't submit with button

    Hi -

So, my guess is you are using the SubmitToSharePointList command. Is that correct? And you aren't using the /id parameter?

We had a little bug in the browser in a previous release of version 4.1, if that is the version you are using - and it is fixed in the download currently available.

However, from your final question, it sounds as if you need to be using the /id parameter. If you include that, qRules will be able to update existing list items instead of just adding new. Since you are submitting repeating data, simply add a node to your repeating group for storing the id from SharePoint. Name it id, or ShpId, or whatever you like, and then add the id parameter to your SubmitToSharePointList command:

    /id=my:ShpId

Replacing the bold type with the actual relative path to your new field.

For a form where you aren't submitting repeating data, you'll use the full path to the new node you've added for storing your id - just right click the field in the data source task pane in InfoPath, and select Copy XPath. Then use that:

    /id=my:myFields/my:whateverTheGroupIs/my:IdFieldIJustAdded

Ah that's right,  I forgot about the ID part.

I had removed it when I was trying to get the form to work,  I just added it back and everything is working now.

    Thanks!
