Issue with promoting multiple selection list to SharePoint Library

    Hello all,

I have created a browser enabled InfoPath 2010 form and promoted it to a SharePoint library. I am having issues when I submit the form, the selection for my multiple selection box is not promoting to the SharePoint library. For example, if i select Choice 1, Choice 2 and do not select Choice 3, only Choice 1 is showing in the SharePoint library. It seems that only one value is promoted. Please help.

    Thanks in advance

When promoting your MSLB field, make sure you select "merge" as your function.  This will display all of the selected values.  "First" is selected by default which is probably why you are only seeing the first value.

     Thanks Anson,

Kindly advise how and where can I access the "Merge" settings?

File --> Form Options --> Property Promotion --> Select your MSLB field --> Modify --> Function --> Select Merge

Also be sure to republish your form after you make this change.

     Hi Anson,

I have a followup question that i was wondering if you can help me with. Once the values have been merged, it looks like its promoted to SP library as one string. If i wanted a workflow parse, the string how would I be able to do that. For example, if Choice1 and Choice2 are selection, it appears in the SP library column as Choice1Choice2. So if i want to workflow to parse it so that I can assign a task for Choice 1 and another task for Choice 2. Is that possible?

    Thanks again

Hmmm I believe you have run into a pain point encountered by many people.  This is a limitation in SharePoint with the merge function.  I don't believe there is an easy workaround to parse out the fields.  Perhaps you can put your own delimiter as part of the value that you are displaying in the MSLB?  There would be alot of work to manage this, but could work if managed correctly.

Maybe someone else out there has found another ingenious way around this?
