Hi all
My InfoPath 2010 Filler form has a set of 4 cascading comboboxes that get their data from a SharePoint 2010 list. The comboboxes are in a repeating table, and there are option buttons in the repeating table that let the user select whether that row entry is New, Existing, or Deletion.
When they enter New, I need to validate that what they enter for the comboboxes is not already out on the SharePoint list. Officially, we only require the first two tiers of combos to have values, but I don't think we have anything that doesn't have 3. Between 80% and 90% of our entries have all 4 levels entered. So I really only need to validate the 3-combos-entered and 4-combos-entered scenarios.
I'm having some trouble with the case where 3 combos are entered and there are no cases on the SharePoint list where the matching data for combo4 is blank. When I enter combo3, it turns up a false positive and tells me I failed my validation test.
What I have for the condition is
OptionBtn = "New" and combo1 = SPdata1 and combo2 = SPData2 and combo3=SPData3 and combo4 = SPData4, though I've also tried setting that last criterion to combo4 is blank and SPData4 is blank and get the same result. I've confirmed my fields are correct and that my SPdata is pointing to the correct Data Connection. I've also tried various 3 combo sets where there are no blank SPData4 values to rule out the possibility that there's something off with the particular test case I chose.
Does anyone have any ideas? I'm going cross-eyed trying to figure this out.
Thanks,
nkstrou
An imprecisely defined requirement has an infinite number of possible solutions. Unfortunately, only about a maxiumum of 3 solutions are actually satisfactory to the end user.
