"Not compatible with browser" but Design Checker shows no errors? (2007)

    Hello -

I am publishing a browser-compatible form. I am in the middle of development, so it is browser compatible but I am publishing it to a document library.

Normally when I publish a form like this, it has a moan about the GetUserProfileByName service, just letting me know that I’ve not selected it to have offline data, which is fine. I use a People Picker control and the above service to get names and emails.

The form I’m working with has previously been published to the same library and published fine. I have done quite a bit of work to it and tried to publish it again.

Now I am getting an error saying that it cannot be opened by a browser because it contains features that are not compatible with browsers.

I’m pretty sure that’s not the case. I haven’t used any controls as far as I know that would cause a problem.

It tells me to go look at design checker. Design checker has the one warning about the web service, nothing else.

So I deleted all the data connections and possibly offensive fields just to see what would happen and try to publish again.

Same error message, but absolutely nothing in design checker.

I’m at a complete loss, where do I go from here? Please help! I’m happy to attach the form without the data connection references, since taking them out didn’t help.

    Thanks!

Please do - attach the form under the Options tab - I can try to publish it to our ShP 2007 site and that will help us figure out if the issue is your site or your form.

Thanks Hilary - but I think I know what the problem is. I've got some referenced fields in there and I think it's confusing it. I'm going to fix those and see how I go. If it's still not working, I'll let you know!

    Thanks again.

It's still not working! I'm pretty sure I've removed the referenced fields that were causing a problem, as they had Invalid Value flags in the logic inspector.

I've run the logic inspector again and it's still saying Processing Error in Rules, but this time it's not showing me all of the controls. Every Plus or Minus icon in the form is a button - where have they gone in the Logic Inspector? They were there before.

I think it must be an errant field somewhere, but I'm struggling to find it when Logic Inspector is missing most of the form contents!

    Any ideas please?

I've got a slightly different version, where i have removed any references to the GetUserProfileByName connection, as well as the connection itself. Now the Logic Inspector loads correctly, and even though it says processing error, it actually publishes! I've attached it here for reference. I've used the above web service plenty of times and nto had this problem before.

I've got it working, but I have no idea how or why this has fixed it.

On the form there is a button called Get Details in the Manager details section.

I deleted that button and opened Logic Inspector. It was working correctly. Saved and published fine.

Did Ctrl + Z to put the button back. Logic inspector OK, saved and published totally fine!

Have you ever seen that before?

No - I have not. Some sort of InfoPath trickery!
