Field Promotion @ Publish successful, Field not accessable in settings or 2ndary connections

I recently upgraded to developing on InfoPath to 2010. We are currently on SharePoint Server 2007 MOS.

The form I am working with is promoting 58 fields to the Infopath Form library. One of the fields (PROJECT)  was mistakenly setup as a text field and should have been an Integer. I changed the data type & removed the field from the promoted fields. Publsished the form. Added the field back into the promotions list and published again. I figured this would remove the field from the library metadata and re-publishing it would add it back in.

PROBLEM: The field does not appear in the library settings with the rest of the metadata. HOWEVER! It does appear when I access the set index screen AND when I change column order.

Thinking I somehow screwed up the PROJECT field in SharePoint, I created a new Integer field in my form called ProjectNum. I removed PROJECT from the form promotions and I added ProjectNum. Now I have two columns that are doing the same thing. OK, Maybe this is somehow related to data types or number of columns I am promoting? NOPE! I removed about 4 columns from the promotions that were not necessary. Re-Published and still neither project field appears. OK, What if I make a field (called Automotive, datatype = T/F) and promote it. THE DARN THING SHOWS UP.

    IDEAS? ?

    Thanks

It appears I can not promote integers. I have tried promoting many different fields, all do promote, Except Integers.

    THIS IS TOO WIERD.
