 dear all,

 I am having trouble when i submit my form to document library.

the first submit says successful, but if i try to submit another time i get the error message below.

"A value in the form may be used to specify the file name. If you know the value in the form that specifies the file name, revise it and try again. Otherwise, contact the author of the form template"
 

it seems because there is a duplication of the file upon submission the 2nd time. But i need to submit my form many times without over writing the old one.

is there a way to solve it. Please i broke my head for the past week and no solution yet. I appreciate any info

When you submit to a doc library, Infopath is saving a copy of the completed form there. So the error comes because the files have the same name and it doesn't want to overwrite the first file. When you create the data connection for submitting the form to the doc library it asks you to specify a file name. For this I usually create a simple formula that will give it a unique name. The simplest way to do this is to use the "now()" command, which will stamp the file with the time and date it gets submitted. I'm sure there are more elegant ways to creat a unique file name from the available functions but that has always worked for me.

so if my filname is "testfile" and i need to add a date date and time stamp what formula i should use

i'm not on a machine with IP installed now but I believe it would need to phrased like this: concat("testfile ", now()) That will capture the name 'testfile' with the time stamped on it. Again, it's a very low-level way to create unique identifiers but it works for me usually.
