    Problem submitting form

Recently ran into a problem with an InfoPath form. Using ‘max(@ID_Num) + 1’ to submit the form returns error ‘The form was not submitted because a form named 1000.xml already exists in the document library at **** Library. Please contact the provider of the form' when submitting to a SharePoint list.  I believe the problem is the field in reference (ID_Num / string) on SharePoint List needs to be converted to an integer for the submit function to work properly.  Though I don't seem to have access on List to do this.  Was trying to use the function below, but InfoPath does not like.  max(number(@ID_Num)) + 1   Any ideas would be appreciated!

Your initial formula max(@ID_Num) + 1 looks correct, but you say that the file already exists in your library.  Does ID_Num and the file name have any correlation? Are you sure that max(ID_Num) is returning the correct value?

I don't believe the problem here is a int/string issue.

When I get that error I normally simplify the formula to just the "now()" function to isolate the issue. Sometimes the problem is something else entirely.

    Hi,

I wonder if I understand your problem correct, cause there shouldn't be one.

I don't know, but my formula looks like this and works perfectly well:

    max(ID) + 1

I have a data connection to my form library that collects the ID field.

I have a field called FomID with the formula above which is of the type string.
