Browser form not submitting to SharePoint list

    Hello,

I am using qrules in InfoPath 2010 and publishing to SharePoint 2010 server.  In my form I am using the Insert command to populate my repeating table with existing data and the SubmitToSharePoint command to post any updates to that data.  This all works beautifully in the client (preview and published) but when the form is opened in the browser the insert works perfectly but the SubmitToSharePointList doesn't at all.  As for sandbox issues, Sandbox services is running on both front end SP servers and app server, I am a site collection administrator, the form solutions were installed and activated in the solutions gallery upon publication.  Any guesses as to where I should start?

    Hi-

What are the values for the Error, Result and Success nodes on the QdabraRules secondary data source after the SubmitToSharePointList command executes?

    Thanks.

This could be the data connection to the SharePoint Lists web service. It would be good to test your environment and see if other SharePoint web services work from IPFS - for example, create a simple form that uses the CheckOutFile method.

    Error:  Is blank

Result:  5 (did not change after execution of SubmitToSharePointList)

    Success:  (check mark) True/Yes

    Hilary,

Can you give me some guidance for using the CheckOutFile method?

    Much appreciated...

Found Hilary's post on automatic file check in and out, I am unable to utilize the checkoutfile method. :(  Form threw an error saying an error had ocurred connecting to a data service.  Investigating error now...

I can't locate the error to get any usable information.  I do regularly use the UserProflie service so I wouldn't think that connecting to webservices is the issue, then again I'm often wrong.

You can't find the error in the SharePoint Log files? Do you have access to the server to look? Are you using ShP 2007 or 2010? Let me know if you need the file path to the log files - I generally trigger the error, get the correlation ID and go look in the logs right away to make it easier to find the error info.

I am using SharePoint 2010, I do have access to the servers, I am using this path C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS and not finding my correlation id there.

So, CheckOutItems fails, you get an error in the browser with a correlation id, and the id isn't present in the logs?

Usually, if something works in client but not in browser, the first thing I look at is postback - do you have postback set to always on the control that is running the command?

You could also try adding a button that just has a rule to submit data using your submit connection to the UpdateListItems method, see if that gives you anything more you can work with.

Found my error(s), I was looking at the wrong server, and fixed my form using the CheckOutFile method.  It works!!  Awesome mthod, by the way, will be using this!!  So, back to my original problem, how do I proceed with my SubmitToSharePointList troubleshooting?  :/

Did you try my suggestion above? Add a button to your form that has a rule action to execute the Submit connection you created to the UpdateListItems method - this way you can make sure the submit connection is executing without issue. One thing I also found odd - you mention the Error node is blank, and the Results node unchanged. That makes it seem as if the command is not running at all. Did you check the postback settings on the control that executes the command?

My Submit button was wrong.  I had my button set as submit using rules instead of just rules and custom code.  That fixed it for me.  Thank you for all the replies and help, it is greatly appreciated!!!
