    Insert Page Break grayed out/disabled

    Hello,

I have a for in which is several major sections.  I desire to insert a page break between each major section, but the Insert Page Break option is unavailable, being grayed out.

Are there any reasons why this might occur?  Any way to get back the option?

    Thank you,

The reason it would be greyed out is you are trying to insert it into a place where page breaks are not possible or allowed.

I believe they should be possible between sections or in non repeating sections.

Unfortunately print support is pretty week in InfoPath, mostly because they are supposed to be electronic forms and printing is evil. :)

2007 has some improvements but it is still impossible in some cases to control page breaks.

I would recomend you keep playing with it or create a test form and experiment with where it will let you insert a page break.

Thank you Clay.  I have 2007 and am very surprised by the lack of printing support.

I cannot seem to find anywhere on my form where page breaks are allowed.

    I will keep trying.

    Thanks,

Re: Insert Page Break grayed out/disabled

I am working with InfoPath 2007 and am working on a project where printing of the form is required.  This form has many multi-line textboxes that have the height set to auto.  I need to be able to insert a page break.  However, the Insert Page Break menu option is grayed out as you described.  I have attempted to embed the page break in a Section control, a table, Optional Section, and various other controls.

Changed the form options, browser compatibility, by unchecking the Design a form template that can be opened in a browser or InfoPath.  I have found nothing that will make the Page Break option in the Insert menu available.

Have started a new form and only put a 2 column by 2 row table with a text box in each cell on the first row and merged the cells in row 2 to insert the page break and it is still grayed out.

Any information you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

     Thanks,

Re: Insert Page Break grayed out/disabled

It is probably because when you began filling out your form, you went into the default table that opens when you begin from a blank template.  If you have built your form in the white space, then it's actually within its own table.

What you want to do is click below the white area, anywhere within the gray.  Go to the Insert tab, and Insert Page Break should now be active.  Put in your break, then create a new table below the break and put in the next page's print fields.  You can repeat this as many times as necessary.

    Hope this helps!
