Cascading Dropdowns in a web enabled Infopath 2010 or 2007 form for Sharepoint 2007

Hi I am currently trying to develop an Infopath form for my department and I cannot figure out how to get the cascading dropdowns to work in a web enabled form in Sharepoint 2007. I have access to both versions of Infopath so I am willing to use either. I have searched relentlessly on google and this site but most all of the solutions pertain to people trying to do this with a repeating table or section. I do not need a repeating table or section in my form. I simply want to be able to use some sort of filtering in my browser enabled form in Sharepoint 2007. Any suggestions would be welcomed!

I found this. Does it help?

Yes I have already seen that article. I am not using a database for this solution I was thinking there must be something simpler than that.

I can think of a few more options that are available to you

    • Create a separate dropdown for each possible set of options, and conditionally hide them based on the other dropdown(s)'s selections - This doesn't require code or data sources, but requires a lot of hardcoding and will only work if the sets of options are very limited.
    • Create a SharePoint list to contain the available options, and use filtered queries to get the available options - The filtered queries can be accomplished using qRules' FilterOwssvr command.
    • Maintain the list of options in a secondary data source, and manipulate them to provide the right options to the download boxes. - This would probably be the most complicated, and would require either code or qRules and some tricky logic, but it wouldn't require any external data sources.
