Sharepoint Info Path form and repeating table

    Hi,

I was hoping that I could get some advice, I have searched the forums and have found some great information but I think I may be missing something. I am trying to create an info path form for a Sharepoint list that will allow users to enter data for multiple rows at the same time.

To do this I am using the Customise Form button on Sharepoint (shown below) as supposed to starting with a blank form -- I am not sure if this is the best way to do things but when I do it this way the form automatically replaces the default sharepoint new item form which is what I want.

When I am customising the form in this way, I can not see any option to insert a repeating table. The only connection that seems to allow a repeating table is the secondary connection (It automatically created a secondary connection because I have a lookup field in sharepoint).

Below is a screen snip of what I would like the end result to be - but I just can't seem to find the repeating table control.

I'm sure that I am doing something wrong or it is some limitation with the way I am using SharePoint / Infopath but I'm lost!

Any help is greatly appreciated :)

     Regards,
    Michael

Re: Sharepoint Info Path form and repeating table

Hi Michael, The "Customize Form" button in SharePoint does provide you a lot for free but I'm afraid you've hit a limitation because Sharepoint List forms (which is what you've described above) only allow you to have 1 data connection: the list in question. Hence, you can only work with the default connection provided. The only way I've added a repeating table to a form is by creating a new library form and then adding my data connections myself. Of course, as you've probably realized, this takes a lot more effort and Sharepoint doesn't take care of the "magic" of publishing the form for you... Another thing that may work (I HAVEN'T TRIED THIS BEFORE!) is to create an association between the list whose form you're editing and the list you want to use in the repeating table. That way, Sharepoint gives you a "repeating group" as part of the defualt list (main) connection when the form is loaded in InfoPath. You could use that group to populate your repeating table. AGAIN, I haven't done this before but I've used repeating tables and I've used associations; and there's a logical twist in my head that says it could solve your problem. Cheers!
    Thanks,
    K!
