    Sudden mistake

    Hello All,

somehow, I do not know what I have done, I receive following message when opening my .xsn-form:

The View 'xy' cannot be opened.

The XSL-transformation for this view has failed.

    InfoPath

A mistake has occured. The operation could not be accomplished successfully.

A mistake in script has occured...

Mistake while a call up of the attribute or method 'Match'.

Does someone has any idea how I can fix this issue. It would be so bad, If I couldn't open my form anymore...

Thanks in advance for your efforts.

    Hi -

Is this when you try to open in design mode? Or when you open the form to fill it out?

If you can't open in design mode, you could change the file extension of the xsn to CAB.  Open the CAB and copy all the files out to a new folder. You try removing the references to the view from the manifest and see if it will open then.... open the manifest with a text editor, and remove the file ref from the files node. Attach your template to a reply if you'd like me to try that for you, okay?

    Hi Hilary,

    thanks for your reply.

It is when I want to open the form to fill it out.

    I have the following assumption:

I had code in the form that I primarily wanted to use. Then, I decided not to use it and deleted it in the script editor. Unforturnately, I marked the hole content of the script editor-window and deleted everything.

Now, from my noobie point of view, I remember that there is always some kind of code in the script editor, which was deleted as well. Can that be the reason for the mistake?

I attached the form to my reply.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Yes, it seems that's very likely the issue.  If you go into the form options, there should be an Remove Code button somewhere that will allow you to remove the code entirely.  Could you give that a try?

Are you saying it doesn't open in Design mode when you right click it and select Design?

Sorry, my fault. I can open the form in design mode but then I do not find the 'Delete Code' button. I'm using IP2003.

Instead, I copied the default code from the script editor of a new, blank form into the script of my form. But then, I still cannot open my form to fill it out...

Try this version - I opened the template you attached in design mode and removed the code - in IP 2007 & 2010, under the Form Options (from the Tools menu in IP 2003 & 2007) there is a programming category that has a Remove Code button.

Right click the link to the XSN in the header of this post, save it locally, then right click to open in Design mode.

EDIT: - Jimmy mentioned in email that IP 2003 to the best of his recollection didn't have the option to remove code (or to change the programming language once you'd added code....)
