InfoPath Dev

I have a form that users enter Details into, the issue is i need the text to be in a set format for reporting, At the moment different users use different acronyms for the same word, EG: Brown = brn or bro

What i have at the moment is

IF Field A contains brn

Set Field A Value to

concat(substring-before(., "brn"), "Brown", substring-after(., "brn"))

Entered in Field A = Big brn House output changes to Big Brown House

The above works well until i want to add several rule with the same output, so if someone enteres brn or bro or Brn or Bro output would be Brown 

Or is there a way to make the field do this by looking up a list on a sharepoint site.

Sharepoint list would have 2 columns

Column 1 = Acronym (brn)

Column 2 = Full Version  (Brown)

Acronym       Output

brn                Brown

Brn               Brown

Yell              Yellow

Yel               Yellow

 Hope i have made this clear, hard to explain ( I would prefer not to use the Sharepoint list as my form already has a head of data connections and is slow enough for my users)

Maybe this is a silly question by why do you let the users type in text like that for something that needs to be reported on?  If they really want to use differnt acroynms for the same word you could just give them a dropdown list with the different names available but the different acronymns just set the value the same.  So in your dropdown you could have names of brn, bro etc but they all set the value of the field to Brown.

Make sense?

InfoPath is a very powerful tool that allows you to standardize data entry - what is the exact reason why they are allowed to enter text like this?

The Field is actually a Customer Name Field and needs to be free text, because the customer names change all the time a drop down will not work (We currently have 6000 Customers). the Acronyms allow my users to enter data at a fast rate.
