Change view on current SharePoint user permissions.

I only want a selected group of people to have the ability to edit my infopath forms in a given form library in Sharepoint.  What is the best way to achieve this?

In my understanding, I want to change to a read-only view of my form for users that only have read-only access to the form library.  I can't find a simple way to do this or even know if this is the best way to accomplish it.

    Thanks!

How many users do you have? If you have <50, just create a config form and pull it into your form when it loads to determine who should get switched to the read-only. Another approach is to query the UserProfile service and based on group membership switch to the view. Or, you could use USer Roles for rich client forms (and see Clayton Cobb's blog on using User Roles in browser based forms). Finally, you could use dynamic permissions based on data in the form. Our Web Service accelerator for InfoPath and SharePoint provides document item level permissions so you can control who opens the form based on data within the form, but this requires installing that service and using a data view in place of the standard library view.

Thanks for the nice smorgasbord of options! I'm new to both Sharepoint and InfoPath so I'll have to explore the options a bit more.  We have far greater than 50 so at least I can rule the first one out! :-)  I was hoping to find a more inherent solution, but I'll check out Clayton Cobb's steps and see if that helps me out.

    Thanks Again!

I was able to pull the current username and info (not the most ideal for this scenario, but at least it gives me something to work with and I may be able to just use the memberships service).  However, I noticed that when a user submitted a new form, the "currentUser" field would always show that original user.  So when another user went to view the form they weren't recognized as the current user, it was the original user that filled out the form.

    This is the formula used.
    xdXDocument:GetDOM("GetUserProfileByName")/dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/s0:GetUserProfileByNameResponse/s0:GetUserProfileByNameResult/s0:PropertyData/s0:Values/s0:ValueData/s0:Value[../../../s0:Name = "WorkEmail"]

I figured out what my problem was! Duh.

I was setting the default value for a text field.  Well, when the form is submitted that text field inherits that value and the next time its pulled up there's no need for a DEFAULT value.

    Facepalm.
