Date promotion question and SharePoint workflow not firing question

    Hi,

    I am using MOSS, Infopath2007, DBXL 2.3.

I have a document type in DBXL which I am mapping to a sharepoint library.  In the sharepoint library I have a calculated column which takes a date promoted from Infopath and adds x days to it.  This works fine.

All dates I promote are shown in SharePoint as "single line of text" - is there any way of having them promoted to SharePoint as Date and Time fields ?

I have tried to run a Bamboo alert from this calculated column - but it doesn't seem to be able to do date comparisons from a calculated column.  So I have created a workflow which will take the result of this calculated column and copy it into a Date and Time Column.

I have set the workflow to fire if started manually, Automatically start when a new item is created and Automatically start if an item is changed.

I have run the workflow manually and it does exactly what I want, and subsequently the alert is triggered.

But when I submit a document to SharePoint the workflow does not start.

When I go to the individual form and look at the workflows associated with it, there are no workflows - i.e. it hasn't failed - it has failed to start.

Do I have to do something else in DBXL mapping to make sure that workflows fire ?   Do I need to give the webservice "permissions" in sharepoint ? - I don't know how I would do that - but it sounds as if it could be something to do with permissions..

    Thank you

    Catharine

You can change from "Object Model" to "web service" for the SharePoint mapping, which should fix the workflow kickoff problem.

When using "Object Model", you need to use the information from this MS KB. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727787(v=bts.70).aspx.  The KB is for BizTalk with WSS v3, but the same applies to SharePoint 2010.  Because the SharePoint object model executes in the DBXL virtual directory, the SharePoint workflow logic depends on some workflow sections being in the current level web.config.
