Unable to submit data from InfoPath web-based forms to SharePoint list

Hello everyone and happy holiday weekend!

I'm trying to figure out an issue.  This if our first browser-based InfoPath form with SharePoint 2010.   With that said, it is entirely possible that we just don't have something setup correctly.

I've attached a copy of the form and the errors that we are seeing.  Basically we cannot get our qrules data connections to post data back to the SharePoint list when the forms are browser-based.  When the forms are submitted in the InfoPath Filler they submit successfully.  Since 90% of our users are still on InfoPath 2003, we are not able to have them fill out the form in InfoPath.

Here are the errors from the SharePoint log:

First thing I noticed is that your data connections have not been converted to UDCx files. In Designer, click Data Connections and go through and convert these to UDCs. You'll have to create a Data Connections library on SharePoint to store them and make sure you approve them after you convert them. Try that and you should get further. The other thing you will need is to make sure your 2010 site has the InfoPath Sandbox enabled. This is in the Admin options for the Site Collection. If you are running MOSS 2007, you will have to Admin Approve when you publish, but in 2010 it's a lot easier (since the sandbox will enable it automatically).

We should have documents on all of this. Please search around the qRules documentation area. Downloads->qRules (under Tools on right).

    Best of luck!

    Patrick

Awesome information.  I created a data connection library and then I converted the data connection in InfoPath that is supposed to submit the items from the form to the SharePoint list.  I went to the data connection library and I approved that item.  I then enabled sandboxed solutions in SharePoint Central Administration.  I then published the InfoPath template and uploaded it to Central Administration (replacing the earlier version of that template).

I then crossed my fingers and when to the SharePoint site form library and filled out the form and then hit the button that should call that data connection to populate the SharePoint list.

    :-(

Unfortunately, I got the same results as before:

    Result:  <null>

    Success: <null>

Error:  Failed to submit to SharePoint URL

I've attached an updated copy of the template just in case someone could look at it and give some advise.  Since this is our first browser-based form, it could be something with our SharePoint configuration.  I check the trust level in the web.config and it is set to minimal.  There has to be something that allows this to work correctly in the InfoPath Filler but not the browser.

Re: Unable to submit data from InfoPath web-based forms to SharePoint list

If it's sandbox you don't need to do the admin deploy. The sandbox must be enabled for the URL where you are publishing though. Make sure that is the case and just try to publish as a form library.

Are you trying to use qRules SaveToSharePoint command (converting imanges and attachments to links) or are you trying to use SubmitToSharePointList? We have documents for both that describe the specific steps to browser enable - I'm assuming you have read these docs. If not, we should make sure you have those first.

Re: Unable to submit data from InfoPath web-based forms to SharePoint list

Sandbox mode was successful.  I am able to publish directly to the form library and see an updated form when I attempt to fill out a new form.  The new issue is that when I do this the form now opens in InfoPath Filler and not in the browser.   The odd thing is that if I were to publish this form to the server and then add it to the library as a content type then it would open in the browser.

I'll attach a screen shot of the settings for browser based forms for confirmation.  I may have to reply a couple of times with each attachement as this Forum doesn't let me attach more than one.  I've read through both the qrules user guide and the SubmitToSharePointList guide.  I'll take another look at the latter in the meantime.

This attachment is of the publishing settings.  Publishing directly to the form library.

And lastly.  Attached is a screen shot of the Form Library settings, which should indicate that the form should be opened in the browser.

Re: Unable to submit data from InfoPath web-based forms to SharePoint list

Okay ... the form is once again browser-based.  I found a posting in the forums from years ago where someone simply opened their form in design view, selected all, changed the font to something else, then changed the font back and republished and now the form is opening in a browser once again.

Now I was able to test the form and upon hitting the button with the action to set the Command field with a value of:  SubmitToSharePointList /submit=IntGroupSubmit /mapping=IntGroup

    Nothing happens.

I even checked the postback settings to ensure that it was set to "always"

    Result <null>

    Success:  <null>

    Error:  <null>

Re: Unable to submit data from InfoPath web-based forms to SharePoint list

And you have tried other InfoPath web method calls? I continue to think this is not a qRules issue, but an issue with your environment -- after all, in this thread we tested using CheckOutFile in your enviro and it failed in a browser form.

Oh, and by the way, you should be at least getting Success = false, and an error if one was available. You'll want to make sure you have postback set to always on those controls as well.
