Save Button Missing from Toolbar in Browser Form Template

Under Form Options, Browser, I have "Show toolbar at top of form", "Show toolbar at bottom of form", "Save", "Save As" and "Print View" all checked.

On the Open and Save tab, I have all the features enabled, (including "Save and Save As").

After I publish as (administrator approved form template), the tool bars are present, but only the Print View button is there.  Why can't I save?

I've read that browser forms do support the "Save" operation, but only to SharePoint.  This is fine for my purposes.  I want to give my users the ability to save a form to a SharePoint form library called "drafts" if they do not have all the required information to submit the form.  (I also have a submit button, but submit enforces the validation)

Hi Ken, I'd have to research why the button is not there, separately, I assume it is by design, though.

I don't ever ever use the Save and Save As buttons in my forms, though.  Here's what I typically do in order to achieve what you're trying to accomplish:

Create a field in your form's data source called "FormStatus".  The default value can be "Draft".  Another value you'll be using is "submitted".  Instead of setting the fields as required, set up a validation rule on each field where it is required only if Status is equal to Submitted.  Then, put two different buttons at the bottom of the form.  "Save Draft" or "Submit Final".  When they click Save Draft, the action will be to submit it using a data connection, but they won't get the validation errors because status is not equal to Submitted.  When they click "Submit final", the first action is to set the FormStatus field to "Submitted", and then submit it via the same data connection.  This way, when they click to submit final, it will then give them a validation error for any missing fields.  In the form library, you can create a view caled "My Drafts", where Created By is equal to [me] and FormStatus is equal to Draft.

Thank you Laura!  That worked perfectly.

Instead of submitting to the same form library and configuring a view, I choose to submit drafts to a separate library on the same site.  (I have a workflow that starts automatically when an item is submitted, so I keep them separated rather than account for the FormStatus in the workflow.)

Just a note on the Save button, it is disabled by design, apparently, despite what this says http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/infopath-help/web-browser-compatibility-in-infopath-forms-services-HA010204085.aspx.  I tested and all other buttons on the toolbar appear except "Save" and "Save As."  Maybe it's because I have custom code behind, who knows?
