Hello All,

 in an InfoPath 2003-form I have a button that is hidden when field A shows the value "2".

When I click in field A I do not see any function that generates the value "2" which means that any other field must have a rule to populate field A with the value "2". Unfortunately, I do not know what field has that rule.

Is it possible to see, from what other field a field is populated, like somekind of reverse search?

With IP 2003, I don't think there is a way -- fortunately 2007 and later have the logic inspector. Post your form here, under the options tab, or send me an email via the forum, and I'll get you my email address so you can send it to me (if you don't want it posted in the forum due to privacy concerns). I can take a look in IP 2007 and let you know what is setting your field.
