Hi Patrick,
Thanks for your suggestion, here's my design goal though.
I have a page that's designed as if it were a little CRM type dashboard. Imagine that the top right of the page has a "company filter" then beneath it an "ID" filter. Those items are tiny and take up no space. Along the center-top is the main parent item, we'll call it the Records. These records were complex enough to warrent an infopath form and it's nice and happy as such, infopath web services form. Now, beneath is a custom row of items via custom tabs for "Tasks, contacts, notes, calendar items" that each display records on their respective tabs when you select the particular parent record.
So, you jump on the dashboard, decide you just want to see company X via filter, select item 3 then you can see all the related items along the bottom.
Why do I want a dataview on my infopath form. Suppose you dont want to have to navigate to the dashboard, filter to find then select an item just to see what all went on with it (other good reasons too). I could create in the "Records" list a series of views or for that matter via search you search for a specific record etc, it would be great if when you open the record, I had below it or in a perfect world a view just for related items that showed all the contacts, notes etc for that record.
I've done this ton's of times with a list display form, slapping on dataviews to it and custom filtering the items just to show related items, but never seen how I might do that with an infopath form.
What do you think?
