    Submit button not working after Windows 7 upgrade

    After my company upgraded to Windows 7, all of our Infopath forms that have a submit button have stopped submitting.  When the submit button is pressed, instead of opening Outlook and having the form in the body of the message an error comes up that says, "Infopath cannot complete this action, because of an error in the form's code."  I checked the form's code but I'm not really sure what I should be looking for.  Has anyone else had this problem?

    This may be because you have UAC (User Access Control) is switched on by default in windows 7 which could prevent certain type of action like opening outlook.

    Try this and see it the error goes away.

    Click Start button and type "UAC" in the "search programs and files" area, you will get "Change User Account Control Settings"

    Open UAC and lower the settings to "Never notify" and click "OK" button.

    Restart your computer and try again.

    Lowering your UAC settings is not a good options but atleast you will know what is the problem.

    Thanks for the reply but that's not going to work.  That option is already set to Never notify on all of our systems.  I do have more information however so maybe this might help.  It appears the actual error message that we are getting says that Outlook is not the default mail program, even though it is.  I've noticed that others have had issues with this but there doesn't seem to be a solution?

    Are you using the same version of InfoPath and Outlook? Both are 2007 or 2010?

    Have you tried manually setting Outlook as your default mail program? Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs\Set Default Programs, select Outlook and click Set this program as default. Just wondering if setting it manually will do any good....

    Yes, that has been tried.  No luck.

    And this is happening on all machines? Have you tried repairing your Office install? I have a VM that has IP 2007 and Win 7 -- later today I'll try a test form w/ an email connection and see if I have the same results.

    Re: Submit button not working after Windows 7 upgrade

    Correct, this is happening company wide. Office repair did not help.  I think it's interesting that when we look at Default Programs in the Control Panel, under "set your default programs" Outlook is the default program.  However, the work around I've been doing to fix this is to go to "set program access and computer defaults" , click the down arrow next to "Custom" and from there select Outlook 2007 as the default mail program.  I think this is strange because if Outlook is the default program under "set your default programs", why do we have to set it again under "set program access and computer defaults." That's why I wonder if this is more of a Windows 7 issue than an InfoPath issue.

    Not that this info is terribly helpful, but on my VM I have no issues. This is a clean install of Win 7 / Office 2007, however, not an upgrade.

    I was mistaken in the error message we're getting, so maybe this will help. When we press the submit button the message that comes up says: A run-time error has occurred.  Do you want to debug?  The following error occurred: To use this feaure, Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 must be set as the default email program.  File:script.js Line:80

    Line 80 in the code is this:  var mail = XDocument.View.Window.MailEnvelope;

    Didn't realize your form was using custom code. Create a test form with an out of the box email submit connection, see if you have troubles with it.
