When updating the form template and publishing, the old forms are updated.

When we make changes to the Infopath form like add a new button or remove certain things and then publish to a documnet library in SharePoint, all of the previously submitted forms are also updated.

Is there a way to leave the old forms as they are and new forms going forward using the new template?     Something along the lines of creating a Template2.xsn..??..

In your XSN (in design mode) look under Form option > Versioning. You'll be able to set the form to not upgrade. More info here.

    Ernesto,

Thanks for the link, but it does not seem to be working for us.   We need the forms we created in the past to stay the same, while the forms created after we publish to have the new changes....  all in the same document library.

We are using browser based forms...   When we select the 'Do nothing (existing forms might not work properly)'   option, the old forms are updated with the new changes after publishing.

    Is this possible?

Selecting 'Do nothing (existing forms might not work properly)' should accomplish what you want to do. I can't imagine why that wouldn't be working. Sorry, I'm out of ideas.
