Looking for help with a file attachment. I have a form with a file attachment (default file- a word document which is a letter template). I would like for the users to open the attachment, fill it out and simply close it so that the changes would be saved and attached to the form. Then with the click of a button they can send it back to a supervisor.
It seems that the only option after the attachment is opened is to do a "Save As" and save it somewhere else. To get this edited document back to the supervisor requires the user to save the changes as a new file, then open Outlook and attach it and then send it back. This is beyond some of the users.
There has got to be a way to save the edited file attachment right back to the form and then send the whole form back.

I have found answers on this great forum before, but can't seem to find a solution for this one. Someone out there must have done this before! It seem so elementary! Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

unfourtunately it is not possible to open a file which is attached to an infopath form do some changes and save it back.

An idea would be to have a custom button on your form which allows you to browse your dircretory to select a file you want to attached.
Store the file path in a textbox control in you form, like this you can then use copy or move function in the next step.
Then you need a second button to submit your form and also automatically saves the file to a fix network folder or sharepoint library. Store this complete path also in a textbox and you it as a datasource for a Hyperlink control wihtin your document.

Like this the file is directly accessible via the hyperlilnk, can be changed, saveed and you are done.
