Have added my data connections to a data connection library and now cannot run the form locally

Hi, I am in the middle of creating a browser form in infopath 2010. All was going well until I converted all my data connections to be stored in a data connection library. Now I cannot run my form locally as it will not access the data sources? This was fine in 2007 you could still run the form locally and then upload to the server. Is this something they have disabled for 2010 or am i missing something. Thanks Buzz

You should be able to run the form disconnected if the XSN has been cached (opened once on your local computer). Verify it has been opened at least once while it was connected. If that is the case, then check the data connections in the data connection wizard to ensure that the box to cache the data connections is set. I believe the default is that it won't do that so you have to cache them. If that doesn't solve the problem, I'd say it's a change between 2007 and 2010.

To clarify some detail i was getting the issue while previewing the form from design mode. I cannot understand why this feature would be removed as it means you would have to upload the template to sharepoint every time you want to test something. Once this is done if becoames very painful to debug code and increase your debug cycle. To preview the from from design mode takes only a few seconds. To go through the publish process then upload the form then open in the browser takes at least 5 minutes.

You can't preview browser based forms from the designer, but you can preview UDCs if the form is saved locally first. Keep in mind that local design mode runs under a different security context. You may need to add the site which you are using for your UDCs to your local intranet group in IE. Try that and see if it fixes your problem.
