The Processing instruction in the file is missing or invalid.

    Hi

I have created an infopath form in one SharePoint site where everyone in the firm has access. Then I have deployed the form to different SharePoint Libraries on different SharePoint sites where different gruops have access.

There are two groups of people that needs access to the form and a SharePoint site. One group that have contribute rights that need to create with the template and one group that just needs to read the created documents.

Now I am having problems with the Read group (They have read access in both the site where the Infopath form is located and read access to the document library, on the second site, where the document is saved). If they try to open a document created with a form located on at different SharePoint site then the document is saved, they get the following error message:

The Processing instruction in the file is missing or invalid.

The only way I have found that make it possible for the Read group to open the document, is to also give them contribute rights for the document library where the documents are saved. This I need to avoid.

I hope someone is able to help me. Thanks

    Best regards

    Louise

    Hi Louise,

This is weird. It shouldn't work that way. Let's troubleshoot. When they open the document, have them download the XML to their local computer (instead of opening in InfoPath). Then, have them open the XML in notepad and copy the first 10 lines or so. Do this also for the ones that work and see if you can spot the difference. If you can't paste both versions in here and I'll try to parse it...
