Prepopulation of infopath form (published as content type)

    Hello everyone

The problem I am having seems to have been posted quite a few times, however I haven't found any correct solution.

    Here is the context.

I have an infopath 2007 form, with lots of code behind, published on a sharepoint 2007 server as a content-type, to a whole bunch of different document libraries.

This form is then instanciated in those libraries by doing a New->MyForm.

Now my goal is to populate the form automatically with the originating library name.

From what I have read everywhere it seems impossible to do this a standard way, with the Infopath Client (seems possible however with browser forms using XDocument).

My idea was to create for each site using this content type a site column containing the value I want, and then instanciating the Infopath form and reading this value in the form. It is a procedure frequently used with Word documents attached as content types, we can get back some specific site columns in the document. I thought this would be possible with Infopath, but I am totally failing on this point, as I can't seem to find a way to pass the site column value to my form.

If any of you have any idea on how to achieve this with I'll be glad to hear from you :)
I have also considered changing the way the form is generated, getting rid of the "new" feature and using instead a specific button with associated code behind (on sharepoint) and prefill the values programmatically, but this approach seems like a behemoth for such as simple thing :(

Thanks in advance for your time Matt
