Sharepoint help involving an infopath form

    Hello everyone,

I have an infopath form all set up, where someone fills out contact information in 3 different sections. I have it set up so it reads information from 3 xml files for a prelist of names (So if you click one name, it fills out all of the information). Now I have put this on sharepoint, but I also want to put the xml files on sharepoint as well so when someone updates the xml files on sharepoint it updates infopath next time it is opened.

What would be an even more ideal situation, even though I am not sure if it is possible is that when someone types in new fields because the predefined contact information isn't there, it automatically adds this information to the xml files that were there before, so the next time infopath is opened there is now this contact information in the quick tab.

I have gotten the 3 xml files on sharepoint but am unable to edit them on sharepoint as well, so if anyone knows how that can be changed, that would be useful.

    Thanks in advanced

When you say you are unablet o edit the XML files on SharePoint could you describe where you have put the files and how you're trying to edit them.

In terms of automatically updating the files with newly input info, that would require code a more elaborate approach to your names lists, using a database or SharePoint list instead of the XML files.

Well, I was just trying to test them, so I have the xml files in the same folder as the created folder that infopath creates.

Would it be very difficult to change all the information into a database or sharepoint? Or should I just leave it as an xml, and have someone update that when it needs to be updated?

To change the data to SharePoint I don't know how to automatically upload the data but I think it's possible with code. It might just be easier for now to just have users update the XML file if you don't want to retype all the data into a SharePoint list.

You shoud put the lookup XML file in a different document librar like ShareDocuments. Putting that lookup XML file in the forms directly in the InfoPath form library may have permissions issues.
