    Date Time Help!!

    MS 2007

I really need urgent help on this particular issue: In my Infopath Form, I connect to my Access DB and pull back information that falls into a drop down list. For that particular field *I only want to show data that does not have any dates*, the problem is I pull everything out of access including the ones with dates for that field. Is there a way to separate dates from no dates (empty or blank cells in access)?

I have tried putting "NULL" in my default value but I get an error that reads "Value is not valid for field data type". If I put a specific date in the default value I only pull that date out --*I want to pull the ones with no date out.* I tried setting a rule *field = is blank**. I have tried a million different combos and I still cannot figure it out.

Please help I have been working on this way to long! Also I am not that great with code so please be specific in your reply. Thanks!

    Hi Eby Jim,

While we prefer SQL over Access, I don't think the DB matters in this case. It sounds like you want to filter out all of the items that don't have dates. In XML, the date type has an attribute called "xsi:nil". This attribute is "true" if the value is blank. Assuming that InfoPath converts the Access dates into XML dates, you may be able to create an xpath filter that checks this attribute. We can definitely help you with filtering and this should be imminently doable.

If this isn't the abracadabra you were looking for and you want some personal assistance, you could send us a nice quote about the forum that we could use and we could provide up to 30 minutes of free hand-holding support. Or, you could just buy an InfoPath Detailing package for a small form (see Qdabra's site for details). Let us know how you would like to move forwward.

    Best of luck!
