Combining SharePoint Lists in drop-down lists

I am extremely new to infopath and sharepoint. I have searched the forums trying to find a solution; my apologies if it exists.

    My question is:

I have two lists, one of first names, the second of last names. I wish to have a drop-down list within infopath take the first initial of the the first name and combine it with the last name in the same field. Is this possible?

I am using InfoPath 2007 and SharePoint 2007 with limited administration access.

     Thank you for your help.

In infopath, create 2 Secodary data connections to retrieve the data from each Sharepoint list

Add  a First name field, Last name field and Combined name field, use the Dropdown control for the First and last name fields, connect the dropdowns to the appropriate data connections

Add a Rule to the Last Name field that sets the value of the Combined field to something like concat (substring(FirstName, 1,1), LastName)

    Good luck

Thanks for the info, but I have deduced I am such a noob to infopath 2007 that I have no idea what I am doing. I did as you wrote, but still to no avail.
