    exporting excel values are duplicated

Hi I am building an access based research form, using two access tables. Tables share relationship with a primary key. This data form is based on access and it is to export collected data into Ms access. I have the form setup in two sections. One section is based on primary table whose data will be vary with individual subject and is mandatory. now second section is variable and is optional from subject to subject. Some subject will require less data and will have less of section 2 (some will require more). I also need to export this data to excel file. I have followed the steps to creating the form accordingly but exported excel file is repeating the section one (which is only required one) and along with it (section 2). section 1 is only required to be exported once and section 2 should only be seen there as needed. Can someone help me with this ? Many thanks.

Re: exporting excel values are duplicated

If Section 1 is repeating and Section 2 Showing up all the time when it shouldn't, it's probably because you got your relation backwards.

As I understand it, Section 1 should have the "1" in the 1-To-Many relationship and Section 2 the "M".

To accomplish that, put your Primary Key as a Foreign Key in the "Section 2" table, not the other way around.

If that doesn't solve it, would you give us some Infos on your database?

Thank you, I have tried your solution. I have redone the relationships as you mentioned, but i do not have the expertise to assign a foreign key to "section 2". redoing many to 1 and still unable to reach my goal. All I wanted to do was to have infopath form submit data to access database so my research subjects data can be analyzed by extracting only limited data. Now I will use infopath form to generate data (without access backend) into an excel file. this way I will have a lot of data (86columns) then I will delete unecessary columns and only use columns I need. I know this is a long way, but this should get something done. PK thanks again for your valuable input
