I have a form that allows users to select their Region, Divisions, and a list of facilities in each division. This is accomplished using a the following structure for my data source:
hospitalsGroup
chooseHospitals (repeating group)
Division (field - drop down list box) Hospitals (repeating field - mutiple selection list box)
There is an XML data source that populates these fields. The structure looks like this:
Hospital - Division - Name - Region - ListOfOptions Each Hospital that appears in the multiple selection list box field has some unique "options" that I want to display on the form somewhere when a user selects that hospital. The form works like this:
- Choose my region from a drop-down control
- The list of Divisions is filtered in a drop-down control that sits in a repeating table
- The user chooses a Division and then options for available Hospitals populates in a Multiple Selection List Box within that Repeating Table
- User can select the Hospitals needed
- **Needed** As a Hospital is selected the related "Options" for that hospital are populated into another field
Is it possible to setup a field using the double eval method that will concatenate all of these "options" based upon the checkboxes selected? The problem I'm seeing is that the Multiple Selection List Box is actually a repeating field, so I don't seem able to concatenate these values filtered out by the user's selecitons. My alternative was to display another drop-down inside a repeating table, with the list of the hospitals they choose. Then they can select a hospital for which they need "options" and it will list those off to the rigth within that repeating table. The drawback here is that we're duplicating the data for hospitals in order to get to those options. Is this something that can only be accomplished using some custom code? If so, would it be possible to add an additional column to my repeating table for the "Options" and have them appear in the same row with the related Hospital checkbox?
I need some directions here and also can't tell if I'm up against one of InfoPath's limitations w/ the multiple selection control. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! :)
