Hi,
I am looking for ideas on a solution to the following problem:
I have a sharepoint list and am using the ID field to associate documents with a particular record, using web parts with filters for this bla bla bla anyway that works fine.
I have an infopath form and I am using it as a content type, what i want is that when a user clicks on a particular record (in the list web part) it shows the documents that are avaialble for that partiuclar record in another document library web part (this is working, i am getting to my point trust me) BUT when the use clicks on "new" in the document library webpart it opens up my content type (which is a risk assesment form ) AND when the form opens it automatically populates a field in the infopath form which picks up the list value the user has clicked on.
To summarise, user opens page > clicks on the ID field in the data view web part for a list > the associated documents are then showed in a document library web part (with a field called reference number which looks up the ID field of the corresponding list this is how it knows what associated with it) > The user clicks on new > clicks on risk assesment > risk assesment form opens in infopath > the "reference number" field is already populated with the ID of the list record they have clicked on > user fills out the risk assesment form > submits it to the document library > HEY PRESTO, now when a user clicks on a particular ID field in the list view web part they only see documents that are associated with that record.
I know its hard to get your head round and it took me a while to understand what my colleague was going on about, however it is a good solution but like i say i am stuck on that last bit of populating the reference number field in the infpath form so that it knows what particular record it is associated with
