I’ve been given a project to improve the way in which we create, approve and submit GL Journal Entries into our Lawson Financial System. Our current process is done using an Access Database and Excel as the front end. This is insecure and requires almost constant maintenance. Because our IT department has been trying to push everyone to SharePoint, this was what I was told to work with. Initially, I thought the best route might be to create an InfoPath form with a Repeating Table within it and put that form as the Template for the Document Library on Sharepoint. Using the SharePoint workflows gets us around audit requirements and manages the approval process nicely. This form is linked up to a SQL database and captures all of the necessary data beautifully for our Financial System; unless the Journal Entry is longer than 100 records long. Our accounting department regularly have Journal Entries that are 500, 1000 and 5000 lines long. When my users have long Journal Entries the response time of InfoPath becomes awful. It can take up to 10-15 minutes to create a 1000 line entry. I’m not married to any of the technologies I’m currently using. I was wondering if anyone out there, might have a better strategy for automating this process for my Accounting department. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!Sean Filed under: InfoPath SharePoint SQL Page 1 of 1 (1 items) Copyright © 2003-2019 Qdabra Software. All rights reserved.View our Terms of Use.
