I am fairly new to Infopath so please forgive me if there is an obvious solution to this problem.
I am trying to use Infopath to display audit trail information. This information is stored in a SQL table containing a number of identification related fields and one field containing the auditing information. This auditing information is stored as string that contains a short XML document. In other words the audit trail table consists of thousands of records each containing small XML documents within them. Since this table contains auditing information for all sorts of data, the schema of the XML documents isn't consistent.
My challenge is how to display this dynamic information on a form.
I have been playing around with repeating tables inside a repeating section and this seem to be my best bet. What I can't figure out is how to get the data from the string field containing the XML data into a table.
Being a VB programmer, what I would normally do is load this data into an Xpath document and then use this as the data source for the table however I can't figure out an equivalent mechanism in Infopath.
Any suggestions?
