    how to use Infopath...

We are currently looking at Infopath, and how we can use it. We are struggling a little bit with the following...

It's relatively easy to submit the data from a Infopath form to f.e. SQL server or to sharepoint lists via webservices. Now say f.e. that I show a link to this information via a webpage, how would it be possible to get but is there a clever way to edit this submitted data in the same Infopath form. I want Infopath to be started, and I expect the data to be in it.

    Hi,

Yes it is possible. For example, with SQL Server, your xml form can be stored as a Blob and can be cached on the user's machine when the form name is cliked on your Web Page. When opened (automatically by code), the form will use the proper template as each form references the proper one to be used in its header.

    Does it make sense?

Hi DavidvanderKooij and welcome to our forum,

I feel like I don't completely understand your question but let me respond anyway ...

First, you can have a dashboard webpage that displays data from your database. And, you can have some code in a button on this webpage that generates an XML stream for that data and inserts a processing instruction for InfoPath into the top. Then, the IE browser will see this and start InfoPath up. You can also just store both a blob of the stream (as well as the data) in the database (this is what our Database Accelerator does) and stream that back. Our simple Dashboard and Database Accelerator basic implement this approach. However, they assume that no other application is allowed to modify the data in the database.

Anyway, best of luck. Let us know if we can help out.
