Submit action for One View Vs Multiple Views.

    Hi All,

I have multiple views on a Form and each view has fields pertaining to its context. Now how do I allow saving of changes on just the current view as I need to do data validation only on the current view.

In my current implemention I have a Submit to Database on a View and users are shown to correct the errors for fields on other views on the form.

I have the form's code set to VBScript as I have some date calculation functions/subs.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Rajeev.

Know that InfoPath separates "views" from "data". The views have nothing to do with the data. You can have a DOM with 100 nodes in it, and then have 100 views with only 1 field each. But that doesn't negate the fact that the DOM still has ALL 100 nodes just because you are on a view with only 1 field.

If you TRULY want to have each view completely separate, you'll have to do some fancy coding to make it all work, or possibly have a separate data connection per view, so that you are only submitting back to the view-specific data connection.

There are probably other options I'm not thinking of that someone else will want to jump in with.

I've got a rule on my submit that sets the name value for the form. But I only want that to set the value on the first view, not on all of them. How can I do this?

Hi -- When you set a field's value, that field will contain the same value regardless of the view it is displayed in. If you don't wish to display the field's value in a view, simply don't put any controls bound to that field in that view.
