Opening Infopath forms without .NET Framework.

    Hi,

I am developing my infopath application using .NET tool kit.
When we tried to open it from a machine that doesn't have .NET framework 1.1 installed, We are getting error "The Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 is not installed on your computer or the InfoPath primary interop assembly (PIA) is not registered".
Unfortunately our clients who is going to use it wont have .net setup.

Is there a workaround for this..? Can we build a .net independent .xsn that could open in non .net installed machines..?

    Thanks,
    E. Rajasekar.

    Hi,

You can develop an InfoPath template using scripting behind. You don't have to use VS to do your development, you can just use InfoPath itself. In that case, the xsn will contain an js file rather than a dll and will be Framework independent.

    Hi,

Thanks. I actually started with scripts..But its not enough to provide advanced features like browse button. So i had to switch to .NET. Is there any other solution..?

    Thanks,

    Hi,

Make sure that your customers have the Framework 1.1 installed. Then, make sure that Office (or InfoPath alone) is installed on top of the Framework. If the Framework is installed AFTER Office, you need to install the Office 2003 PIA:

    Hope that it helps.

    Thanks for your help!.

I might go back to scripts and get rid of browse funcationality as making customers to install .NET framework will not be feasible..
