Hiding Sections in a Browser Form

Hi, I have an IP 2010/QRules 6.1 form that I'm having issue with hiding sections.

The form has a "Search" area at the top (always visible), and a Results section that is conditionally shown based on a trigger field that is set when the user clicks the Search button. Originally the trigger field is set to 0, but changes to 1 on button click. Then the Results section displays. In the Results section, there is a "Search Again" button that will clear the Search fields (and reset my triggers). At this point when clicked, the Results section hides again (trigger set to 0).

The issue is that I have 2 "mini" sections within the Results section. If both sections are displayed, and the user clicks Search Again, the thought is the entire Results section should hide at the same time. However, it has a "rolling" hiding. Here's how it appears when you watch it.

    1. "Edit" mini section hides (this is good, because this is actually hiding due to the Results section trigger hiding... it isn't conditionally hidden on it's own until later)
    2. "Add" mini section - repeating table hides (this is a 1 row repeating table not tied to any secondary data source (originally we were going to let the user add rows to this, but decided against it. So, even though the repeating function was no longer needed, I left this so I didn't have to rebuild the data fields in this section).
    3. "Add" mini section - table header - it sits in the same section but just immediately above the repeating table (in #2). I have no clue as to why these hide at different times since they are in the same section.

So, functionally it all gets hidden, but being able to actually see the rolling aspect of it is not pretty.  Originally I didn't have one large Results section, but instead only had the mini Add and Edit sections. That's when I first saw the rolling aspect. So, I thought if I put these 2 sections inside a larger container, and then told the container to hide... it would take care of it. Of course that didn't help.

Any thoughts? I can't figure out why the Add section isn't immediately hiding with the Edit section. It does have it's own conditional hide rules, but I can't remove them. It's almost like it's ignoring the big section rule and then hiding when it's rules run. So, I'm sure this has something to do with rule running order or something like that.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Just wondering if anyone has seen this and if there is some remedy to it to force it to work how I need it.

    Thanks!

I also meant to add... if the Add mini section is the only section displayed in the Results section when Search Again is clicked. It still has a "rolling" hiding... where it does #2 and #3 above. I'm thinking it change that repeating table into just a table, that that could take care of that difference.

So, I cleaned up my "Add" mini section - I rebuilt my data (got rid of the repeating table). I was thinking this would at least stop the difference in timing of #2 and 3 on original post, so that they hid together. I still thought there would be a difference between the 2 mini sections.... However, now, I don't see the "rolling" hiding of sections. I'm guessing the form was "confused" by the repeating table or it just slowed it down so much that it was clogging up the rules such that you could visibly see the sections hiding one at a time. Now it's instant.

I am still curious as to if anyone else has seen this and what they did to fix it (especially if my thinking isn't correct).

OK, I spoke too soon... When both sections are dispalyed, and Search Again is clicked, it looks fine. the "hiding" works quick, and you don't see any lag/rolling. However, when only the add section is displayed, you can visibly see the table hide row by row.  First the data row, then the header row and title row (bottom -> up). This is really odd. It's one table with 3 rows. I don't understand why it doesn't all hide at once.

    Any thoughts?

I've seen this in IPFS before - where conditional formatting doesn't seem to apply correctly and then does as you scroll. I'm not sure of a solution - if you are using buttons for show / hide, maybe try setting postback to always on them?

Thank you Hilary! The postback setting worked!
