For example, I have two controls; Total_Required & Total_Submitted_To_Date of a Whole Number (Integer). Currently Total_Required is fixed at 300.  However, this Total_Required number will be replaced with a new total when the Total_Submitted_To_Date reaches a certain number.  How will this new number for Total_Required replace or update the default value in the template?

 Any help here would be GREATLY appreciated!

Hi Handyman,

The InfoPath editor cannot edit the InfoPath form's template, which is where the default data is stored. You should use a secondary data source to load and save your default values. An easy solution would be to store the default value of 300 in an XML file that you have on your Web server (or you could use a SharePoint list). Load this value on load and adjust it based on other data - you can calculate using form logic. To save a new default value requires more ingenuity (hint: Web Service). I'll leave that as a thought exercise.  Before I can answer your question I need more details, do this form connected to an access or SQL db? In what way does the "300" change -- do you want it computed after satisfying any rule or just a selection of data other than "300"?
