    Submitting a modifed form creates a new form when using now() for filename?????

    Using infopath 2007.  I have created a data connection where I am submitting data to a Sharepoint site. I have the box checked that says 'allow overwrites if file exists'.  My code when the button is clicked is:

    DataConnection conn = DataConnections["Sharepoint Library Submit"];

    conn.Execute();

    When I open a form and modify it and click the submit button the original file stays the same but it creates a new one with a new timestamp for the file name.  If I use the today() function for the filename everything works as it should.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks a lot!!

    well your submit button is doing exactly what it is supposed to do. Whenever you submit the form it should create a new form.

    you store your form name in some variable and then submit the form (using that variable as file name) that should solve your problem

    Thanks for the response.

    However, I don't think it is doing what it is suppose to be doing.  Otherwise, would would be the point in checking the 'allow file overwrite'??

    well the point of allow file overwrite is if you specify a name and that name already exists in the libary.

    And well submit button is doing exactly same as it should do. you tell it to set the name to now(). every time it submits the form, it first calculates the now(), then creates a file name (what ever is out put of now()) and creates/overwrites the file
