    Newbie question

I came across this awesome site and thought maybe someone could help me with a question. I'm an infopath newbie but learning as I go. I'm trying to make a form that has a notes section that can open and close. Something like the "optional section" but you can put notes in there then click a tab and close the box to save room on the form (but of course can be reopened and the notes are still there).

hope that makes sense, thanks for any help!

Yes, you are not looking for an "optional section" but for a "conditionally visible section".

    To do this:
    1. Place your notes field inside a section.
    2. Add a check box outside the section with a label such as "Show Notes".
    3. Add conditional formatting to the section to hide the section if the check box is FALSE.

That should give you what you are describing.
