Form design incorporating access to a database

I have tried a number of ways to resolve the following problem with no success. What I want to do is have a form that I can publish to a SharePoint collaboration site where part of the form is based on an Access database so that the data entered each time the form is completed is stored in the database table for use by another department. I can build and publish a form…...no problem. I can develop a form based on a database which does what I want it to do….no problem (except that some of the fields in the form require far greater than 255 characters and of course this is not possible) but what I can’t do is have an “ordinary” form part of which stores the data in Access.  Help!!!!

    Hi:

So, if you aren't going to write custom code, if you want to submit to Access, you have to base your form off the database you intend to submit to. However, you can add additional 'ordinary' fields to the resulting data source (for information that you just want stored in the form). You can only add new fields to the very root of the data source, so in the Main Data Source (after having created your form by basing it off your Access DB) you can right click at the very top folder and then start adding other fields.

    Hope that helps!
