    Repeating Table

Hello,  I would like to filter a repeating table based on if a date field is blank and allow users to enter a date in the blank date field without the row disappearing.

    Thank you in advance.

Hi - so you want to have conditional formatting on a table to hide rows where the date is not blank & then when the user fills in the date, still display the row? That's kind of a tough one. You could add a helper field of some kind to track whether the date was blank to start with....

    Hi Hilary,

Yes.  I was thinking the same thing about using a helper field.  I wanted to set the value of the helper field with the value of the date field, but run into a problem with the date value of the first row (query results) showing up in all the rows.

    Thanks

Well - I was thinking along the lines of setting a field called "populated" to True, for example. So when I fill in the blank date, populated is set to true. Then, my conditional formatting could hide all rows where the Date is not blank and populated is not equal to true.

    I'll try that.  Thank you.

I placed the helper field in the repeating table, I set a rule for the date field with no condition and to set a value for the helper field.  At the repeating table, I set a condition if date is not blank and help field is not equal to specified value then hide.  The now populated date rows are no longer hiding, but the value of the helper field is populated in every row.

    Thanks

Can you attach your form? Under the options tab.

Okay, got it - you have nested repeating data. So - in the case of the helper field for Populated, it would probably need to go in the Art_Production repeating group, since that is what it refers to, right? The Production Complete date there?

You want to show the ReqesterInformation group if any instance of the ProductionCompleteDate is blank? And then continue to show it after the user fills it out? When does it hide?

Yes.  It should hide after it was submitted to the database.

Okay - this is an unfortunate issue with database bound forms - you added your field to the main data source - there will only be one instance of that field, even if you put it into your repeating group. You'd need to add it to the table. So you could add a field to your Art_Production table and walk through the data connection again to add it. Then, I think right before you submit, you'd want to set all the Populated fields back to blank for reuse the next time the data loads.

    Hi Hilary,

I apologize for the delayed response.  You are right.  This will work for me.  Thank you for your time!
