Hi, I cannot open my infopat form because of an error in the definition file. I can open it in write mode but not design. Can someone please help me with how to get around this.

Could you provide a bit more detailed information may be you have messed up your manifest file somehow and need to modify parts of it manually.

I don't know how it happened. I had a form I was designing on my PC at home. I copied the file onto my laptop. When I got to the office, right-click to Design I get a message saying

 Cannot open infopath form because the form definition file contains errors. If I open up the dialog I see the following detail:

The form definition (.xsf) file contains elements, attributes, or structures that are not valid.

Error details:
The keyref 'financialsRT_918' does not resolve to a key for the Identity Constraint '{http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/infopath/2003/solutionDefinition}xmlToEdit_name_key'.

I checked the file at home and that is the same. It was fine and now it's now. I can open it by double clicking but I need it as a template to finish designing it.

 Any ideas?
 

Hi

I hope this is as simple as I think it is.  Because the form was "Published" on your home computer cutting and pasting it does not move the "Published" location so the form template is trying to contact your Home PC for reference when it opens up in design mode.

To sort, take the laptop home then delete the template on the laptop.  Go into design mode on your home computer publish the file to your laptop and then it will work fine.
