Auto-Populating Fields in InfoPath Forms Services from a SharePoint List

I am new to this forum and I am looking for some guidance here, what I a trying to accomplish is to query a SharePoint list that has a lot of data (2000 items with 45 or so columns) and auto-populate fields with the data that matches the SharePoint ID from the list item.  I have gotten this to work correctly using a data connection and filtering the "Set a field's value" action when I run the form in the client application (InfoPath 2007).  However when I run the form in the browser I get the pop-up script errors warning the user about the script causing browser to run slowly and eventually it freezes.  I know this has to do with the size of the list, but I am looking for some type of work-around to be able to return the values that are needed to populate those fields.  I am not a real strong programmer, but I do have a little bit of knowledge, so any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Here is the system information

InfoPath 2007 & MOSS 2007 Enterprise with InfoPath Forms Services configured and enabled.

     Thanks in Advance - Aaron
